Ikos Dassis, Corfu - Dreaming of Our Next Trip
By Vikki Ashton
Ikos Dassia is just 20 minutes transfer from the bustle of Corfu airport, but gliding through the security gates in our 'IKOS VIP' transfer and stepping out into the beautifully designed reception space in Ikos's Sky building, you feel you have entered a world of peace, calm, tranquility and luxury.
Travelling as a family of six, we usually have to compromise on something so that the majority of us are catered for, but at Ikos, all our checklists were fully satisfied. Our 5 year old could enjoy the playground 'Splash Attach' area the the kids club, my 7 year old loved the variety of swimming pools and our 10 year old son spent endless hours parasailing, riding the inflatables in the sea and even joined in the football academy 2 hours each evening with a group of other boys. Such activities would normally mean I would be dashing between everyone taking them to where they wanted to go next but everything was so well planned and designed we could make a base each morning either on the beach or by one of the swimming pools and then scatter.
We spent the week in a deluxe suite situated at the north end of the resort which we found to be quiet and peaceful. We were within a 2 minute walk of breakfast buffet which again catered for everyone's tastes and immediately in front of our suite was the deluxe pool. My husband loved this pool as it was quieter than the main pool and never a shortage of sun loungers. The staff at the pool and the whole resort were incredibly attentive and nothing was too much trouble.
Except for slight variations in quality, different pool, area on the beach perks, Deluxe guests also benefited from a dedicated concierge service with restaurant bookings, a spa treatment, champagne and upgraded room service menu, a delicious dinner on the beach and much more...
The choice of restaurants at Ikos Dassia meant that during our weeks stay we didn't eat at the same restaurant twice! One evening we took a delightful boat trip to an island situated off Corfu town. We spent a couple of hours eat and enjoying the Greek dancing and the stunning sunset before heading back across the water to Dassia. Whilst the food wasn't to the same standard as the hotel, we really enjoyed the event and would definitely return.
Other trips off resort included a private yacht charter which took us further north to a private beach where we enjoyed fresh fruit and sunbathing where we swam in the warm and clear Ionian sea.
Our 7 day trip seemed to fly by and when we came to leave the resort, we did so very reluctantly, already planning when we might be able to return. When a holiday is this easy, caters for so many different ages and interests you know you've found your 'happy place'.
Ikos Dassia, until the next time...
