Should You Book Your Summer 2016 Holiday Now?
By Vikki Ashton
The month of May can be a perfect time to travel – why?
Significant numbers of people will be travelling during May, most are families, responding to the recent crackdowns on taking children out of school during term time and making absolutely sure they get the holiday they want. Many have even pre-registered their interest in particular dates and particular resorts. So if you are the sort of person who likes to build their plans around their holidays, rather than vice versa, what are the possible advantages and disadvantages to booking so far in advance? Here are some poi nts to consider:
Reasons to book now
1. Costs
You will get the best of the early booking incentives - free child places for example, early booking discounts up to 40% off, free night offers, and other special offers such room or board upgrades or resort credits. You will neve r be sure that you have got the lowest price for your holiday, but, you will definitely be getting a competitive price if you book early - especially if you are looking for a peak week at a very popular hotel.
2. Children
While you can’t normally choose individual rooms or apartments when you book a package holiday, you can select types - family suites or connecting rooms for example. These are often in short supply. If you want a certain type in a particular hotel, you may well need to grab it now. At Just Resorts our Resort Experts can often advise and guide you on the best room type to suit your needs.
3. Flights
Departures from some smaller regional airports, and at some popular days and times do sell out early for peak school holiday dates, especially to underserved destinations. The cheapest airfares are when the flights have just been released; air fares rise in price the closer you get to the summer season. Furthermore, many low cost airline operators have now released their flights for the summer peak period and prices are very competitive so now is the time to book.
