A Royal stay at Elounda Gulf Villas

Our very own Vikki Ashton has recently returned from a family holiday at Elounda Gulf Villas, where she was lucky enough to spend a week in the exclusive surroundings of the 4 bedroom Royal Spa Villa. Read on to hear all about her amazing Greek experience...

"As we arrived at Heraklion airport in Crete, we were greeted at the baggage carousel by a very smartly dressed gentleman with a trolley to take our luggage. We were whisked through arrivals and into a top of the range Mercedes 8 seater! 50 minutes later we arrived to a wonderful welcome at Elounda Gulf Villas, and were transported via golf buggy to our beautiful villa.

On opening the door to the villa, we were blown away by the 360° panoramic views of the sea and islands. Our infinity pool boasted not one but two Jacuzzis! There were also plush sun loungers surrounding the pool and lining the terraces all facing the magnificent views. We really felt we were in heaven. The pièce de résistance was a hammock between the trees which we loved.

The villa is very spacious and luxuriously furnished with a fully fitted kitchen, dining tables both inside and outside to seat at least 10. There are 4 large double bedrooms with en-suites, and an air conditioned gym with fitness equipment. I have to say the gym got no use at all, but it looked impressive!

The staff couldn’t do enough for us. They were at the end of the phone and happy to deliver food, drinks etc… speedily to our villa. The buggy service up and down to the restaurant was equally efficient and the staff were incredibly friendly.

The beach club is serviced by an on-demand shuttle which takes around 10 mins to a peaceful private beach with sun loungers and lunch time restaurant serviced by the lovely George!

We visited (within a short walk) several fantastic world class restaurants dotted along the Elounda coast, Italian, Japanese, Greek, Mediterranean to name a few…. However, our absolute favourite was in the Village of Elounda, The Ferryman!

Our 7 night stay flew by, and on our final evening we pushed the boat out and the resort arranged a private chef in our villa and OMG they certainly didn’t fail to delight us all. A large sea bass baked in salt, marinated lamb, steaks and chicken all cooked on the BBQ by the pool, accompanied with Greek salad, rice and a lovely platter of fresh fruit to finish, all washed down with copious amounts of Rosé Wine!

Our journey back to the airport was equally luxurious with a VIP airport transfer service where we were whisked past the airport queues to a private check-in desk and straight through security in less than 20 minutes for our EasyJet flight home.
